The Power of Process

Forget About Goals – Focus on Your Process Instead

Why Focusing on Systems Trumps Goal-Setting for Success

As you’re working towards your dreams and aspirations, it’s easy to get caught up in setting goals. After all, goals give us something tangible to strive for – a finish line to cross, a milestone to reach. But what if I told you that goals aren’t the be-all and end-all when it comes to achieving success?

I’m not attacking goals… per se.

In my experience, goals are important. But they are not the driving force, they are targets or milestones.

Think about it this way – once you achieve a goal, it’s no longer relevant to your future intents. Sure, they can serve as a foundation for your next objective, but the goal itself has been checked off your list. The truth is processes are much more important than goals.

Processes are adaptable and flexible. As your dreams and priorities evolve, you can adjust your process accordingly. Goals, on the other hand, tend to be more rigid and static, which isn’t bad, it’s necessary. Goals should be static.

Seriously, focus on your processes.

Your process should be repeatable, reusable, and perfect for you. You won’t have the same holdups or hangups as someone else for a myriad of reasons, so your problem-solving processes won’t be the same as someone else’s. By focusing on your process rather than just your goals, you empower yourself to keep growing, learning, and reaching new heights. Your process becomes a never-ending journey of self-improvement, not just a series of finish lines to cross.

So, the next time you’re feeling stuck or unsure of your direction, shift your attention away from your goals and towards your daily habits and routines. Ask yourself, “What can I do each day to get me where I need to be?” Then, put that process into action.

Trust me, when you prioritize your process over your goals, you’ll be amazed at how much further you can go in creating meaningful progress and reaching your ultimate objectives.

TLDR

Goals are like destinations on a road trip. They’re great for giving you a sense of direction, but the journey itself, the daily driving and pit stops, is what truly makes the adventure worthwhile and gets you to the destinations. Your process is like your personalized road map; it’s flexible, and adaptable, and keeps you moving forward even as your destinations change. So, next time you’re feeling lost or stuck, focus on your daily routines and habits. Remember, it’s the journey that gets you to the destination. It’s not just the destination that matters most.
